About Us
The creation, design, and production of publicity and marketing. Strategies of effective public relations lobbying, fundraising, news management, market and audience research, and needs assessment.
In this class, we not only gained useful tips and instruction on how to market ourselves in the job world and in our select fields, but in April 2011 had the exciting opportunity to assist with the opening of a library service point in the Pittsburgh Public Market. This ‘real-life’ work enhanced our skills and provided us with a realistic framework of how to collaborate in everything from conceptualization, promotion, facilities management, evaluation and the end result of opening weekend.
Through our various backgrounds and experience levels, we have worked together to not only learn, but collaborate with the various marketing techniques that are ESSENTIAL for any library profession.
History of project
This website was created in April, 2011, by students from Dr. Alman's LIS 2830: Marketing & Public Relations for Libraries class. This will serve as a visual overview of the topics covered during the semester, projects and presentations, useful marketing tips, and a special segment on the collaborative opening of the CLP:LYNCS service point in the Pittsburgh Public Market.
